A fundraiser to provide clean water, improve sanitation, and offer scholarships to nursing students in Ghana.
The Ghana West Africa Medical Mission (GWAMM) hosted its much-anticipated Fish Fry Fundraiser on October 25, 2025, drawing an enthusiastic crowd of about 170 supporters. The event formed part of GWAMM’s ongoing fundraising drive to provide clean water, improve sanitation, and offer scholarships to nursing students in Ghana.
Â
The evening was opened with a heartfelt prayer by Dan Collins, followed by an inspiring presentation of need from Pastor Dennis Littleton. Dr Lyle Wadsworth then shared practical ways guests could support the mission’s life-changing work. The atmosphere was further lifted when the classic song "Woyaya" by Osibisa was played, prompting a beautiful sing-along moment that filled the room with warmth and unity.
Â
Beyond the speeches, guests were treated to a feast that captured the spirit of generosity. Fresh Alaskan halibut and Florida specks, personally caught by Dr Wadsworth, his son Jay, and Pastor Littleton, were expertly prepared by the men of First Baptist Church of Seville, Florida. (This same church previously donated two boreholes to Ghana), reinforcing their long-standing partnership with GWAMM. A local barbecue restaurant also contributed by donating coleslaw and baked beans, while Gayle Wadsworth, Mary Littleton, Terri Collins and Marie Jeffreys coordinated the event logistics and added a sweet touch with their delicious homemade banana pudding.
Â
Funds were raised for five new boreholes at the event, through the generosity of attendees and supporters, with more contributions expected in the coming days. The Fish Fry fundraiser was a celebration of community, compassion, and shared purpose toward transforming lives in Ghana.
